Due diligence is all about mitigating risk. However, when deals involve multiple languages, even the best translators can miss crucial details when the documents to inspect can run into hundreds of thousands. This reintroduces risk to every phase of due diligence.

Say hello to our AI Translate tool 👋

Integrated inside the data room, this tool enables you to save time and work on cross-border deals with confidence. This feature is accessible for all PDF documents and to anyone granted access by the Admins.

⚠️ Good to know

Please note that we use AI to translate documents in real-time, relying on unsupervised AI translations that may not always be 100% accurate. When reviewing documents, we recommend verifying the translations and referring to the original document for accuracy, particularly for sensitive information.

AI-driven Document Translation

Our AI Translate tool uses best-in-class OCR technology and leverages Amazon Translate’s AI service with deep learning techniques to deliver more accurate and fluent translations than traditional statistical and rule-based models. Built on a neural network, the system considers the full context of the source sentence, as well as the translation it has generated so far, to produce more precise and natural results.

How does it work?

  1. Click on the PDF document's name to open it in preview mode.

  2. Click the 'AI Translate' button in the top-right corner of the page and select the language to which you want to translate the document.

  3. To turn on/off the translation you can toggle this button () located on the top right of the page.

ℹ️ Documents are translated one page at a time, with an overlay on top of the original content. You can hover your mouse over the translated section to see the original text.

⚠️ Good to know: You can easily switch between languages for the same document by selecting a new language from the dropdown.

FAQ

What languages do we support?

We currently support the following languages:

  • English

  • German

  • Spanish

  • French

  • Korean

  • Italian

  • Dutch

  • Japanese

  • Portuguese (Brazil)

  • Portuguese (Portugal)

What about document types?

We only support PDF documents which were uploaded into a data room on or after June 1, 2023. If you’d like to translate older documents, simply re-upload them to the room.

Please note we don’t translate documents over 200 pages, or larger than 50 MB.

How does it work with redacted documents?

Translation overlays are applied around redacted areas to ensure that confidential information is not disclosed to the viewer. This applies only to documents redacted since October 2024. If a redacted document needs to be translated, the original document must be uploaded into the data room and redacted again.

How does it work with Secure Share?

Viewers outside the data room do not have access to AI Translate. Recipients need to be logged in to the data room to use it.

I've got an error message. What do I do?

If you receive any error message while in Translation mode, please wait a few seconds, scroll to the next page, or refresh the page. The page will then be translated. If there are any persisting issues, please also let us know via Live Chat!

Downloading translated documents

Currently, the ability to download translated documents is not available. Documents can only be translated when previewed in the data room.

Searching within a translated document

If you are using the search function to look for specific keywords, please note that the search is performed on the original document, not the translated version.

Tracking translation activity

Room Administrators can use data room reports to view translation activity. These reports include User Activity, Document Activity and Activity log by person.
